Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team in Cartersville, GA. In this role, you will provide specialized respiratory care to critically ill and premature newborns, working collaboratively with neonatologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, family-centered care.
The RRT is responsible for assessing, treating, and monitoring neonatal patients with respiratory disorders, administering respiratory therapies, managing advanced respiratory support equipment, and responding to emergent situations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based care in a fast-paced NICU environment.
Duties
- Assess, treat, and monitor neonatal patients requiring respiratory support.
- Initiate, manage, and wean mechanical ventilation, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen therapy as appropriate.
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results to guide respiratory care.
- Administer prescribed respiratory medications and aerosol therapies.
- Respond to neonatal emergencies, including high-risk deliveries and resuscitations, in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate families on respiratory treatments, equipment, and discharge planning when appropriate.
- Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and responses in the electronic medical record.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and respiratory care best practices.
Requirements:
- GA State RCP license - Required
- Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience - Required
- NBRC (RRT) Cert - Required
- Current BLS AHA, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications - Required
