Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Interventional Radiology (IR)
Location: South Carolina
Shift: Days | 3 × 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. The IR RN provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using image-guided technology. The nurse is responsible for pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure monitoring, sedation management, post-procedure recovery, and patient education while collaborating closely with radiologists and the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures.
- Perform pre-procedure assessments and prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
- Monitor patients during procedures, including conscious sedation and hemodynamic status.
- Assist physicians during vascular, angiographic, and image-guided procedures.
- Assess and manage vascular access sites, including sheath removal and post-procedure monitoring.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and contrast agents as ordered.
- Recognize and respond to cardiac rhythm changes and procedural complications.
- Provide post-procedure recovery care and patient/family education.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Float to Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units as required by facility needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology RN experience.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Pending state license accepted but must be obtained before the start date.
- Must participate in on-call rotation.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Required License
- Active RN License (or pending license with issuance prior to start date)

Schedule & Call
- Day Shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- 3 × 8-hour shifts per week
- On-call: 1 night per week and every 5th weekend
Additional Information
- 13-week travel assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate.
- Floating required to Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units within the resource pool.
- Facility will consider candidates with a pending nursing license.
- Pre-employment modules (approximately 2 hours) required before the start date.
