Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Critical Access Hospital | Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians.
• Assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and respiratory treatments.
• Perform respiratory assessments, pulse oximetry, arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and analysis, and pulmonary diagnostics as appropriate.
• Set up, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy.
• Respond to respiratory emergencies, code blue events, and rapid response situations.
• Assist with airway management, intubation support, and patient transport when needed.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, medications, and disease management.
• Document respiratory assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to provide safe, evidence-based respiratory care.
• Participate in mandatory departmental quarterly education and competency sessions.

Required Documents / Certifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) (as required by state/facility)
• BLS Certification
• Acute Care Hospital Respiratory Therapy experience
• Experience caring for patients across multiple age groups
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, including every other weekend
