Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. The IR RN provides specialized nursing care to adult, geriatric, and adolescent patients undergoing minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing image-guided technology. Responsibilities include pre-procedure assessment, procedural assistance, moderate sedation monitoring, post-procedure recovery, vascular access management, and patient education.
 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing Interventional Radiology procedures.
• Perform pre-procedure assessments and prepare patients for image-guided interventions.
• Monitor patients during procedures, including hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythm, and moderate sedation.
• Assist physicians during angiography, vascular interventions, biopsies, drain placements, and other IR procedures.
• Perform and manage vascular access, including PICC line care and central venous access.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and contrast media as ordered.
• Assess access sites and monitor patients for post-procedure complications.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation using the electronic medical record (Epic preferred).
• Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Participate in the required on-call rotation and weekend call coverage.
• Float to like units or campuses within a 20-mile radius as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Interventional Radiology RN experience.
• First-time travelers are not accepted unless the candidate has 3+ years of recent IR experience.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment.
• Active state RN license or Compact RN License compliant with NLC guidelines.
• Epic experience preferred.

Schedule & Call

• 4 × 10-hour Day Shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• Schedule may be adjusted during the interview process.
• On-call required
• Weekend Call: One Friday–Sunday call weekend every 4 weeks (approximately 6–8 call days per 4-week schedule).
• Holiday coverage required based on facility needs.

• Candidates must include vaccination status and renewal plans for any certifications expiring during the assignment.
• Floating may be required to like units or campuses within a 20-mile radius.
