🔥 MIXED ACUITY PCU CONTRACT – 1ST TIME TRAVELERS WELCOME – POTSDAM, NY

First Connect Health is seeking a versatile Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for an immediate 13-week night-shift assignment in Potsdam, New York. This is a uniquely dynamic mixed-acuity environment covering PCU, Med-Surg Telemetry, and standard Med-Surg patient tracks. If you are a high-performing acute care nurse looking to pick up your very first travel contract, this facility proudly welcomes first-time travelers!

💰 PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE

Weekly Gross: $2,362.00
Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,246.00
Hourly W2 Rate: $31.00/hr
Overtime Rate: $46.50/hr

📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

Schedule: Night shifts, 3x12-Hours (19:00 - 07:00). No block scheduling available.
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours weekly.
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend coverage.
EMR & Unit Systems: Epic charting, Pyxis medication dispensing, and structured SBAR communication protocols.
Patient Ratios: Scaled flexibly by acuity; ranges from 1:3 to 1:5 on days/weekends and 1:3 to 1:7 on night shifts.
Clinical Environment: A 25-bed floor with a daily census averaging around 24 patients.
Patient Diagnoses: Surgical pre- and post-operative workflows (ENT, General Surgery, Trauma surgery, Orthopedic surgery) alongside overflow medical diagnosis tracks.
Floating Mandate: Required to float across corresponding sister units when needed (West 2, West 3, and the Observation unit).

🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

Experience: Minimum 1 year of clinical hospital experience required. Must have documented PCU or Intermediate Care (IMC) experience within the last 3 years.
Licensure: Active New York State Nursing License must be in hand at submission.
Certifications Required: Active AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS credentials are required. PALS and TCAR certifications are highly preferred.
Geographic Rule: All candidates must have a verified permanent taxable address located further than 50 miles away from the Potsdam facility.
Dress Code: Freedom of choice! Any solid color scrubs are permitted.

⚡ Stepdown Experience Mandate: This is a mixed-acuity environment containing PCU, MS Tele, and Med-Surg patients. To clear initial compliance, candidates must possess verified PCU/IMC experience within the past 3 years. Strong MS/Tele profiles can be screened if all core competencies are explicitly checked off. 🧒 Rare Pediatric Caseload Rule: This unit experiences rare pediatric patient admissions. Travel nurses are strictly never assigned pediatric patients unless they possess proven, verified pediatric experience. Please call out if you maintain prior Peds experience during your application. 🔄 Sister Unit Floating Flexibility: Travelers must be fully comfortable with floating flexibility across the localized care network. Sister units include West 2, West 3, and the facility’s Observation unit. ⏱️ Strict Time Off Limits: Pre-approved requested time off (RTO) is capped at a strict 7 days maximum per 13-week contract. All requests must be submitted upfront. 📋 Clinical Skills Requirements: Core clinical responsibilities on this unit include cardiac drip management (no titration), IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) setups. Ensure these are detailed on your skills checklist.
