Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care for pediatric through geriatric patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. The ideal candidate has strong emergency nursing experience, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage a wide range of acute and emergent conditions.
Requirements
- Active RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- Preferred Certification:
- TNCC
Clinical Experience
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Critical care medication/drip management
- Peripheral IV (PIV) insertion
- TNK/tPA administration
- Conscious sedation
- Care of patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, behavioral health, and minor trauma emergencies
Patient Population
- Pediatric through geriatric patients
- General Emergency Department population
- Common presentations include:
- Respiratory illness
- Stroke
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Behavioral health emergencies
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Minor trauma
- Other acute medical emergencies
Staffing
- RN-to-patient ratio: 1:3–4, based on patient acuity
- Multidisciplinary support includes:
- Charge Nurse
- Patient Care Technicians/Unit Coordinators
- Paramedics
- Respiratory Therapists
- Pharmacists
- Social Workers
- Emergency Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers
- Hospitalists
- Intensivists
Technology
- EPIC EMR
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Omnicell Medication Dispensing System
- Philips Patient Monitors
Schedule
- 12-hour Day Shift
- Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 75% of scheduled holidays
- No on-call requirements
Floating
- Must be willing to float to other units or affiliated facilities within the region as needed, within scope of practice.
