Travel Behavioral Health RN – Night Shift (Behavioral Health Unit)

📍 Specialty: Behavioral Health RN
🕒 Shift: Nights | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate, high-quality care to adult behavioral health patients (18+). The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and document accurately.
• Provide crisis intervention and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Monitor patients according to observation and safety precaution levels.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and patient care conferences.
• Conduct patient education and therapeutic group activities as assigned.
• Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health professionals, and support staff.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and organizational policies.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records.
• Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies as needed.
• Assist with orientation, quality improvement initiatives, and unit-based activities.

Requirements

• Current Illinois RN License
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• BLS (AHA) Certification
• CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS) – Required
• BSN preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in Behavioral Health/Psychiatric Nursing preferred
• Experience with Meditech is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (4–6 hours)
• Lift up to 25 lbs with assistance as needed
• Frequent walking, bending, reaching, and patient assistance
