Position Details
- Dysrhythmia exam not required
- Must have knowledge of reading slides with immature cells in Hematology
Shift Details
- 8 Hour 5a to 1:30p or 6a to 2:30 p
- Every 3rd weekend rotation
- 1 summer holiday
Unit Details - Instrumentation
- Blood Bank: Grifols Eflexis Gel and Tube testing back up. Need knowledge of antibody identification, elutions, etc.
- DXH 800: Hematology
- Stago compact Max: Coag
- Roche Pro: Chemistry Analyzers
- Clinitek Advantus: Urinalysis
- ABL 90: Blood Gas
- Kit Testing: Mono, Strep, HIV, CDiff, Fecal WBCs, Covid, Flu A/B
Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Medical Lab Scientists (MLS) assist physicians and other specialists by performing all aspects of testing on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids, the results of which can then be used to diagnose and treat patients. Confirms test results and provides the physician with data necessary to make appropriate determinations.
Licensing/Certification
- MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
Education
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science/Biomedical Science/Biology/Biochemistry through a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)
