PREMIUM MRI TECHNOLOGIST CONTRACT – NIGHTS – HIGH-ACUITY TRAUMA LEVEL I

 

We are seeking a highly experienced, certified MRI Technologist for an immediate 17-week travel assignment. Operating within a premier Trauma Level I academic medical center and major teaching hospital environment in Madison, WI, this position is tailored for elite imaging professionals fully capable of executing complex, specialized diagnostic procedures completely independently. Please note: This position requires immediate, expert-level clinical communication. Candidates must be completely confident independently communicating and coordinating with Inpatient (IP) and Emergency Department (ED) teams to triage routine and emergent lines under high-pressure scenarios. First-time travel tech candidates are proudly accepted, provided they meet all baseline clinical markers.

 

📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

  • Schedule: Dedicated night rotation featuring a combination of 8-hour and 12-hour regular shifts. Standard weekly coverage runs: Fridays from 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM (8hr), Saturdays & Sundays from 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM (12hr), and Mondays from 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM (8hr). No block scheduling.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 32 Hours guaranteed weekly.
  • On-Call Requirements: Absolutely NO On-Call required, preserving your days off.
  • EMR & Archiving Systems: Epic charting systems preferred alongside advanced PACS platform management.
  • Floating & Coverage Mandate: Primary coverage is focused on the main high-acuity acute care campus. Cross-coverage or floating to the adjacent East Madison Hospital facility may be required based on real-time operational needs.
  • Surgical & Scan Scope: High-acuity imaging processing across diverse populations spanning neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Core cross-coverage includes Head/Neck (brain, cranial nerves), Abdomen/Pelvis (MRCP, MRA, MRV), comprehensive Musculoskeletal, Spine trauma, and specialized imaging lines (CINE, multiplanar reconstructions, perfusion mapping).

📋 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

  • Hardstop Experience Rules: Minimum 2 years of consecutive clinical experience strictly as an MRI Tech [REQUIRED]. Must display advanced competency tracking within intensive care, ER, and trauma imaging units.
  • Equipment Mandate: Verified GE scanner experience within the last 18 to 24 months is strictly required [HARDSTOP].
  • Clinical Protocol Rules: PE pulmonary embolism exam MRA competency is strictly required [HARDSTOP] due to the nature of the night, weekend, and trauma emergency coverage schedule.
  • Vaccine Mandate: COVID-19 vaccination is not required; Flu vaccination is strictly required [REQUIRED] (Medical/Religious exemptions only).
  • Certifications Required: Must hold a valid ARRT Magnetic Resonance (MR) certification OR an active ARMRIT MRI certification [REQUIRED]. Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology required. Active AHA BLS [REQUIRED]. Baseline proficiency in starting peripheral IV lines and administering contrast media [REQUIRED].
