Registered Dietitian
Job Summary
The Registered Dietitian supports Meadowwood Hospital's mission by providing comprehensive nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to patients and their families. The role focuses on improving patient health outcomes through individualized nutrition care plans, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing monitoring. The Dietitian serves as the clinical expert in the use of nutrition to promote health and manage disease.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and evaluate patients' dietary needs, restrictions, and health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
- Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families.
- Approve patient menus and nutritional supplements.
- Advise patients on dietary modifications, food selection, meal planning, and preparation.
- Perform nutritional assessments in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve facility menus to ensure nutritional adequacy.
- Counsel individuals and groups on healthy eating habits, nutrition monitoring, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to determine patients' nutritional needs.
- Participate in treatment team meetings as appropriate.
- Review and update the facility's diet manual annually in collaboration with the medical staff.
- Deliver educational presentations on nutrition, healthy eating, and disease management.
- Monitor food service operations to ensure compliance with nutrition, safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Eligible for licensure as required by the state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with patients with Eating Disorders and/or Substance Use Disorders.
- Previous experience in an acute care, behavioral health, or hospital setting is preferred.
Certifications & Licensure
- Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential or state registration/licensure as required, or eligibility for state endorsement.
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety certification, if required by state regulations or facility policy.
Skills
- Strong clinical nutrition assessment and counseling skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, nutrition care planning, and regulatory standards.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and patient education skills.
