Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room (OR). The ideal candidate will have recent perioperative nursing experience and be proficient in providing safe, high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The OR RN will work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure efficient surgical workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative process.
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure according to safety protocols.
• Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures and maintain a sterile, safe surgical environment.
• Assist the surgical team by anticipating procedural needs and coordinating patient care.
• Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and communicate changes to the surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Ensure accurate surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps before, during, and after procedures.
• Maintain compliance with sterile technique, infection prevention standards, and hospital policies.
• Document all perioperative care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and post-anesthesia care staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Respond effectively to emergency surgical situations while maintaining patient safety.
• Float to other perioperative areas based on competency and facility needs, if required.
