Required License, National Certification, Certs: RN: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred

RN: Experience with above patient types, NG tube placement/management, foley placement/management,
chest tube management, Pleurex and other drains, wound care, central line/ports/midline blood draws,
cardiac rhythm interpretation

CNA: assist with ambulation, patient ADLs, vitals, I/O, blood sugar checks. Can remove peripheral IVs

Patient Ratios: RN: Days: 1:4-5; Nights: 1:6-7, can go up to 1:8, but not common

Patient Ratios: CNA: Days: 1:5-6; Nights: 1:7-8

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Cardiac: CHF, chest pain obs. No Cath Lab on site. If patient needs cath, will be transferred to St. Luke s MC

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Neuro: seizure obs, stroke obs, TIA vs. stroke rule out, altered mental status

Support within the Department: Centralized tele monitoring with tele techs, central monitor also at the nurse’s station

Floating: If yes, where? Could float and take patient assignment on other MedSurg units or
anywhere in the hospital MedSurg patients are located, including ER hold, ICU, etc. Will only take a MedSurg patient assignment

Orientation (facility and unit): NEO

Orientation (facility and unit): One 12h shift on the unit to learn the flow

Scheduling: Weekend rotation: Every other

Scheduling: On call? Only low census. Could be placed on low census call for up to 36h per contract

Schedule cycle: Manager makes schedule in 6-week increments and released around 3-weeks prior to schedule beginning
