Number of OR Suites: 17
Average Daily Case Volume: ~65 cases/day
EMR: EPIC
Required Certification: BLS
Position Requirements
- Minimum 2 years OR RN experience required
- Prefer 1–2 previous travel assignments
- Must have broad OR experience across multiple specialties
- Scrubbing experience not required
- Candidate should highlight their top 2 clinical strengths/areas of expertise
Case Mix / Specialties
The OR handles a wide range of pediatric and adult surgical cases, including:
- Pediatrics (all specialties & trauma)
- General surgery
- Robotic surgery (Da Vinci)
- Neuro/spine and craniotomies
- Pediatric scoliosis
- Orthopedics:
- Total joints
- Orthopedic trauma
- Sports medicine
- Pediatric spica casts
- Urology:
- Complex cases
- Cystoscopy
- Kidney procedures
- Prostate procedures
- Oncology cases (attached Oncology Center)
- ENT
- GYN:
- Full scope of cases
- C-sections for accreta (routine sections handled by L&D)
- Bariatrics:
- Robotic/laparoscopic Roux-en-Y
- Gastric sleeves
- Gastric bypass
Schedule
Shift: 12-hour shifts
Typical Hours: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Overnight shifts are uncommon
- May be required to cover nights due to staffing needs, vacation, or call-outs
- Scheduling based on department needs
- No block scheduling
Call Requirements
Weeknight Call
- Required
- Usually ~4 hours after scheduled shift
- May occasionally cover up to 12-hour overnight call
- Volunteers requested first
- Typically 1–2 times per contract depending on vacation coverage
Weekend Call
- Required
- 12-hour in-house day shift
- Volunteers first
- Approximately once per month
Holiday Call
- Required
- 12-hour in-house day shift
- Volunteers first
- Approximately once per month
Call Response Time: 30 minutes
Staffing Structure
- Charge RN available 24/7
- OR Techs available
- No required RN scrubbing
Floating
Rare:
- Nearby surgery centers
- Possible support at Meridian or Nampa OR locations
- CVOR experience (robotic thoracic) may allow floating if needed
Orientation
- Approximately 1 week

- General hospital orientation
- Department/unit orientation
