PREMIUM CERTIFIED SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST (CST) – LABOR & DELIVERY CONTRACT
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a 13-week contract assignment in Elmira, NY. Operating as the only high-risk obstetric facility in the region, this unit handles 80–120 deliveries per month, making it a perfect fit for a seasoned tech who thrives under pressure.
Please note: This role requires maximum clinical flexibility. While primarily a day-shift role, candidates must be willing to occasionally cover night shifts, perform unit cleaning/stocking, and act as a patient sitter if surgical volume is low [REQUIRED].
📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS
- Schedule: Day shifts, 3x12-Hours (07:00 AM - 19:30 PM). Note: Occasional night shift coverage may be required depending on departmental needs.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours weekly.
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks (08/02/2026 – 10/31/2026).
- On-Call Requirements: No [NO CALL]. There are no active on-call or standby requirements.
- Unit Footprint: A comprehensive 10-bed Labor & Delivery unit paired with 2 dedicated surgical OR suites, seamlessly attached to a 20-bed Maternity unit.
- Local Bill Rate Note: A localized rate of $68.00/hr applies to regional candidates meeting the facility's local distance criteria.
📋 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Surgical Scrub Mastery: Provide elite scrub support for emergency and scheduled Cesarean Sections (C-Sections).
- Unit Operations: Maintain strict infection control standards, clean surgical/delivery suites when needed, and systematically stock rooms with essential surgical supplies.
- Cross-Functional Patient Care: Must display a team-first attitude and willingly serve as a patient safety sitter anywhere in the hospital if unit census drops.
📋 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION
- Experience Rules: Minimum 2 years of current, consecutive acute care hospital Surgical Tech experience [REQUIRED]. Prior dedicated experience within a high-acuity L&D unit or specialized OB/GYN OR suite is highly preferred.
- Certifications Required: Verifiable National CST Certification (NBSTSA) and active AHA BLS certification are strictly required upon submission [HARDSTOP]. New York State compliance documentation must be in order.
