🔥 PREMIUM DAY-SHIFT MED SURG / ONCOLOGY RN CONTRACT – DAYS (3x12s)
First Connect Health has an immediate 13-week travel opening for a highly collaborative Medical-Surgical / Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) in Bismarck, North Dakota. Operating within a family-oriented, 31-bed acute care unit under a Level II Trauma framework, this position is celebrated for its excellent teamwork and highly supportive culture. Please note: First-time travel nurses are proudly accepted on this unit if they meet baseline clinical experience and certification requirements! Core staff handle specialized chemotherapy administrations.
💰 PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE
- Weekly Gross: $2,074.00
- Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,246.00
- Hourly W2 Rate: $23.00/hr
- Overtime Rate: $34.50/hr
📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS
- Schedule: Day shifts, 12-Hours (07:00 AM - 19:30 PM). The manager coordinates scheduling based on unit requirements, but block scheduling will be considered if core floor needs are completely met.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Pacing models track closely at 1:4 to 1:5 on days. Supported by dedicated patient care techs carrying a 1:8 ratio, a shift charge nurse, and a floating resource nurse.
- Weekend & Holiday Expectations: Rotating every other weekend (EOW) and holidays as needed to preserve team balance.
- EMR Charting System: Epic.
- Clinical Scope & Case Mix: High-quality care for adult and geriatric populations. Common caseloads encompass stroke management (non-thrombectomy stroke line), hypertension, COPD, cellulitis, CHF, Atrial Fibrillation (non-RVR), chest pain, post-ICU myocardial infarction, surgical overflow (no craniotomies or joint replacements), altered mental status, and general oncology lines.
- Infusions & Respiratory: Independent management of titratable and set-rate drips, including Heparin and Lasix. Floor respiratory support covers troubleshooting stable BiPAP and established trachs with blow-by oxygen; in-house RT is available 24/7. Telemetry packs are utilized on-floor with dedicated monitor techs reading and interpreting all strips.
- Floating Requirements: Travelers are the first to float to meet system needs. Floating lines cover other Med Surg floors, telemetry units (where a tele RN handles strips), and ER holding areas. Bypasses maternal-child units.
🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent clinical acute care experience as an RN. Prior experience with tracheostomies, BiPAP management, and Lasix titrations is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Valid North Dakota State Nursing License or a valid Multi-State Compact RN License must be verified and active.
- Certifications Required: Active AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications are strictly required to clear the portal gate.
- Dress Code: Flexible formatting; the unit enforces no specific required scrub color.
