OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Everett, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (18:30 - 7:00), including at least one weekend night shift
- Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2-week period
- Call Requirements:
- After 13 weeks, must take call
- Up to 6-8 weekday night calls (21:00-07:00) and 6-8 twelve-hour shifts (07:00-19:00 or 19:00-07:00)
- Floating: No floating between units required
- Weekends: Not regularly required except for occasional on-call with advanced notice
- Locals: Not accepted
- Pending License: Accepted
Facility & Unit Information
- Level II Trauma Center
- Units include: Trauma, Craniotomy, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery (crani/spine), General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Plastics, Robotics, Vascular, Thoracic, Cardiac
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Any except reddish orange
- Parking: Facility paid
Required Qualifications
- Valid Surgical Technologist license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Required Health & Safety Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Fit mask test (annual, travel only) unless exempt (e.g., Sterile Processing Techs)
- Immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer or declination)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer or declination)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
Background & Verification Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- State-specific searches as required by Washington law (WSP/WATCH) within 90 days of start
- Education verification required for all candidates
- NURSYS license verification for RNs
- Work history verification and skills checklist as applicable
- References must align with specialty and cover required timeframes
Training & Competency Requirements
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific Workramp modules (approx. 3.5 hours)
- EPIC training modules required and must be completed within a week of orientation
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Competency exams and skills checklists updated annually as required
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgement required; may be asked to float to nearby facilities
- Photo for badge required (passport style, neutral background)
- Physical and health documents required if onsite; not required if remote
- Some certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC) may be required depending on unit and clinical track; verify with credentialing team
This position offers a night shift travel contract opportunity in a Level II Trauma Center with a diverse surgical services environment. Candidates must meet licensing, certification, and health requirements and be prepared for call responsibilities after 13 weeks.
