Travel RN – Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU/STICU)

Location: Charlottesville, VA 
Start Date: 08/03/2026
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Nights | 4x12s | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (36 or 48 hours/week available)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care to adult surgical and trauma ICU patients.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and manage rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Care for post-operative patients recovering from complex surgical procedures.
• Monitor and manage trauma patients with multisystem injuries.
• Administer blood products, continuous IV sedation, and vasoactive medications.
• Manage ventilated patients, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and advanced monitoring devices.
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs), cardiac rhythms, and hemodynamic data.
• Assist with emergency procedures and provide rapid intervention for critically ill patients.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC Electronic Medical Records.
• Maintain evidence-based practice and uphold patient safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License (Virginia license pending accepted)
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• Minimum 1 year of recent SICU, Trauma ICU, or Critical Care experience
• EPIC Electronic Medical Record experience (Required)
• Experience with:
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Arterial line management
  • Central line care
  • Blood product administration
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Vasoactive medication titration
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
