Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Lawrence, KS
Location: Lawrence
Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract (Depending on Assignment)
Setting: Acute Care, Outpatient Clinic, Medical Unit, or Long-Term Care
Position Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician. The LPN is responsible for administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, documenting care, assisting with treatments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care within the scope of LPN practice.
- Collect and document patient histories, vital signs, and clinical observations.
- Administer oral, IM, subcutaneous, and other prescribed medications as permitted by state regulations.
- Monitor patient responses to treatments and report changes in condition to the RN or provider.
- Assist physicians and nurses with examinations, procedures, wound care, and treatments.
- Perform specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and basic laboratory procedures as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Coordinate patient flow and prepare examination or treatment rooms.
- Maintain infection prevention practices, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and facility policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program.
- Current, unrestricted Kansas LPN license.
- Minimum of (2) year of recent LPN experience preferred.
