Job Description

W.W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience, be comfortable caring for high-acuity patients, and possess excellent assessment and emergency response skills.

The ICU RN will work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care while maintaining patient safety and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in the ICU.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor patient conditions.
• Recognize and respond rapidly to life-threatening changes in patient status.
• Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, and vasoactive drips according to physician orders.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic parameters, and laboratory results.
• Manage patients requiring ventilators, cardiac monitoring, infusion pumps, and other critical care equipment.
• Perform NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments as indicated.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge planning.
• Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in Cerner EMR.
• Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Participate in emergency response situations including rapid responses and code blue events.
• Float to Step-Down Unit (SDU) if required within competency.

Required Qualifications

• Active Oklahoma RN License or Compact RN License
• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience
• Current AHA BLS Certification
• Current AHA ACLS Certification
• Current AHA PALS Certification
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
• Recent Pediatric ICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience (Required)
• Strong critical care assessment and emergency response skills
