Job Description
W.W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience, be comfortable caring for high-acuity patients, and possess excellent assessment and emergency response skills.
The ICU RN will work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care while maintaining patient safety and quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in the ICU.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor patient conditions.
- Recognize and respond rapidly to life-threatening changes in patient status.
- Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, and vasoactive drips according to physician orders.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic parameters, and laboratory results.
- Manage patients requiring ventilators, cardiac monitoring, infusion pumps, and other critical care equipment.
- Perform NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments as indicated.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge planning.
- Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in Cerner EMR.
- Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards.
- Participate in emergency response situations including rapid responses and code blue events.
- Float to Step-Down Unit (SDU) if required within competency.

Required Qualifications
- Active Oklahoma RN License or Compact RN License
- Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Current AHA ACLS Certification
- Current AHA PALS Certification
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Recent Pediatric ICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience (Required)
- Strong critical care assessment and emergency response skills
