Telemetry 2 years exp required
Telemetry RN – Boise Hospital (Floor 3 & 7)
Experience Required: 2 years experience required. Prior travel preferred, but not required.
Unit Information
- Tele 3 & 7: Pool their staffing together to cover staffing needs. Travelers will be expected to float between Floors 3 & 7 as needed.

- 3rd Floor: 20 beds
- 7th Floor: 35 beds

Common Diagnoses / Types of Patients
3rd Floor – Cardiac Focus
- Post-op procedural
- Post-op day 1 open heart
- TAVRs
- Ablations
- Post caths
- Pacemakers
- Med Tele
7th Floor – General Tele
- Post procedural overflow
- CHF
- Sepsis
- Electrolyte imbalances
- Post strokes
- And more
Experience / Must-Have Skills
- Must have post procedural cardiac experience (cath lab, ablations, open heart)
- Prefer PCU and Stepdown experience
- Must be able to read, interpret, and appropriately document telemetry
Drips
Are RNs required to titrate drips?
- Heparin & Insulin (rare)
- Insulin experience not required; facility will train if needed
Common Titratable and/or Set Rate Drips
- Set rate cardiac gtts
- Amiodarone
- Cardizem
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
Charge Nurse
- Charge nurse on each unit
- Does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
- Crisis and Resource nurse available in-house if needed
CNA / Patient Care Tech Support
- 3rd Floor: 3 CNAs
- 7th Floor: 5 CNAs
- Typical CNA ratio: 1:8, depending on staffing and census
Respiratory Support
- RT available on each floor
- Unit can take patients requiring intermittent High Flow, BiPAP, and CPAP
- RT manages respiratory equipment and administers breathing treatments
- RNs may be asked to assist if needed
Telemetry Monitoring
- Remote tele techs located on the 3rd floor
- Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry twice per shift
Shifts & Scheduling
- 7:00–7:00 shifts
- Schedule created every 6 weeks
- Scheduler works with travelers to build schedules
- Travelers are expected to remain flexible and help fill staffing gaps
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Maximum of 5 consecutive shifts
- Scheduler tries to group shifts together for night shift staff
Weekend Requirement
- 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Days: Saturday & Sunday
- Nights: Friday & Saturday
Holiday Requirement
- May be asked to work holidays
- Not expected to work every holiday
Call / Standby
- Not typically required
- More likely to float
Floating Requirements
- Travelers are first to float
- May float to any MS, MS-Tele, or Tele unit within the hospital
- May also float to sister facilities in Meridian and Nampa
Scrubs
- Any color scrubs
Orientation
- 2 shifts
- 1 shift on 3rd Floor
- 1 shift on 7th Floor
