Location: Nome, Alaska

Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a primary care clinic setting. The RN will assess, plan, coordinate, and deliver nursing care to patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. This role focuses on preventive care, wellness, chronic disease management, patient education, and clinical support for providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Perform patient assessments, including physical, emotional, social, and safety evaluations.
- Screen patients for tobacco use, depression, alcohol and substance use, cancer screenings, and immunization needs.
- Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Perform patient testing and diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
- Initiate IV catheterization and administer IV medications.
- Educate patients and families regarding health conditions, medications, preventive care, and self-management strategies.
- Promote patient wellness through health maintenance and injury prevention initiatives.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for support staff, including LPNs and Medical Assistants.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within one year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of patient care practices and clinical nursing procedures.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and standard office technology.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional standards of care.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, reach, stretch, and crouch.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Push and pull with moderate to heavy force.
- Maintain visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient care.
Work Environment
- Clinical healthcare setting.
- Exposure to biohazardous materials, latex, and other healthcare-related environmental conditions.
- No routine travel required.
