🔥 PREMIUM HIGH-HOUR MED SURG RN CONTRACT – 48 HOURS GUARANTEED
First Connect Health has an immediate 13-week travel opening for a highly motivated Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) Registered Nurse (RN) in Big Spring, Texas. This contract is custom-structured as a high-yield, 48-hour weekly routine operating within a specialized 10-bed acute care unit with an average daily patient census of 8. If you are looking to maximize your hours, secure premium Lone Star tax-free stipends, and lock in a stable block schedule, this contract is built for you!
Please note: Prior travel nursing experience is highly preferred; however, first-time travelers with an exceptionally strong, stable acute care work history will be considered.
💰 PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE
- Weekly Gross: $2,574.00
- Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,274.00
- Hourly W2 Rate: $25.00/hr
- Overtime Rate: $37.50/hr
- Based on 48 hours weekly (40 Regular Hours + 8 Overtime Hours).
📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS
- Schedule: Night shifts, 4x12-Hours (19:00 PM - 07:00 AM). Features a structured block scheduling framework.
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours guaranteed weekly.
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Consistently tracked at a stable 1:5 ratio across nights and weekends.
- Weekend Coverage: Rotating every other weekend (EOW) required.
- Clinical Scope & Infrastructure: Comprehensive general medicine and surgical overflow delivery supporting populations from pediatrics and adolescents to adults and geriatrics. Supported on-floor by a multidisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, and active Pharmacy teams.
- Core Unit Competencies: High-quality care management covering IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line management, accessing/managing ports, and blood product administration. Standard respiratory workflows include oxygen administration via nasal cannula; comfort with BiPAP/CPAP management is highly preferred.
- Infusions & Pacing: Responsible for managing PCA lines, Heparin, and Insulin protocols. Must be fully competent in monitoring set-rate cardiac and vasoactive drips (zero titration required). Competence in cardiac monitoring and working seamlessly with emergency Rapid Response/Code teams is required.
🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent clinical acute care experience as a Med Surg RN.
- Licensure: Valid Texas State Nursing License or a valid Multi-State Compact RN License is strictly required in hand at the exact time of submission.
- Certifications Required: Active AHA BLS is required at submission. AHA ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS credentials are highly preferred.
- Health & Vaccine Guidelines: Facility mandates full compliance with standard COVID-19 and Influenza vaccination rules (approved medical or religious exemptions are accepted).
