Medical Social Worker – Los Angeles, CA
Assignment Overview
- Position: Medical Social Worker
- Start Date: July 27, 2026
- Length: 6-month contract
- Schedule: Wednesday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Setting: Emergency Department and Inpatient Units
Job Duties
- Work with patients in both the Emergency Department and inpatient units.
- Manage patient caseloads on inpatient units.
- Provide support and resources for a diverse patient population, including:
- Adults
- Geriatric patients
- Pediatrics and newborns
- Homeless individuals
- Common cases include:
- Trauma (including gunshot wounds)
- Human trafficking
- Abuse cases
- Must be available within a 10-hour work window.
Requirements
- Active Social Worker license.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of Social Work experience.
- Experience with discharge planning and care coordination preferred.
Interview Process
- Candidate interview required.
- Two interview panels:
- Mother/Baby Unit team
- Emergency Department team
Orientation & Dress Code
- 1–2 weeks of shadowing (typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM).
- Business casual attire.
Compliance Requirements (Post-Offer)
Candidates must complete:
- LA County online application.
- Employee Health clearance, including:
- TB test
- Physical exam
- Mask fit test
- MMR and Varicella titers
- Hep B/Tdap or declinations
- County fingerprinting and badge process.

Pay
- Local Rate: $30/hour
- Estimated Weekly Gross: $1,200
