Position Summary

Modoc Medical Center is seeking a licensed Retail Pharmacist to join its pharmacy team. Under the direction of the Retail Pharmacy Manager, the Retail Pharmacist is responsible for providing comprehensive retail pharmacy services, including medication procurement, dispensing, storage, patient counseling, and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
 

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacist license in the State of California (Required)
• Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
• Current BLS Certification
• Knowledge of current federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations
• Maintains required continuing education for pharmacist licensure
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately compound and dispense prescription medications
• Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions
• Provide patient counseling on medication usage, dosage, side effects, interactions, and storage
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns while maintaining required staffing ratios
• Manage medication inventory, procurement, storage, and controlled substance security
• Process prescription data and maintain accurate patient and pharmacy records
• Resolve third-party insurance and prescription claim issues
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance, regulatory standards, and pharmacy policies
• Report medication errors and follow established incident reporting procedures
• Build and maintain professional relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers
• Participate in customer service initiatives and pharmacy programs
• Stay current with pharmacy laws, regulations, and continuing education requirements
• Support retail pharmacy operations, expense control, and overall departmental performance
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy environment
• Perform additional duties as assigned
