Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)
  • Patient population: Hematology malignancies including multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, lymphoma, and pre/post bone marrow transplant (BMT) and CAR-T therapy patients
  • Clinical responsibilities include:
    • Peripheral and central line blood draws, IV placements, and PICC line management
    • Chemotherapy administration
    • Blood transfusions and blood product administration
    • IV antibiotics
    • Management of oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
    • Insulin and heparin drips
    • Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
  • Charting system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1 year of hematology/oncology nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Competency in central line blood draws, peripheral line care/management, and PICC line management
  • Proficient in starting IVs

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or formal leadership
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) or chest x-ray if positive, within 1 year of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series; declination acceptable)
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12; no exemptions if working with infants or pregnant patients)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination with mask requirement during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
  • Fit mask testing required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond (specific mask types accepted)

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
