🔥 HIGH-ACUITY PEDIATRIC OR RN CONTRACT – MAGNET-DESIGNATED CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
First Connect Health has an immediate 13-week travel opening for a highly specialized Pediatric Operating Room (Peds OR) Registered Nurse (RN) in Madison, Wisconsin. Operating within a state-of-the-art facility at the nationally recognized American Family Children's Hospital, this role focuses on comprehensive care for pediatric surgical patients within a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. If you possess expert-level surgical competencies, strong Epic charting habits, and want to collaborate with a leading academic medical team, this contract is tailored for you!
Please note: Prior travel nursing experience is not strictly required, making this an excellent opportunity for highly qualified first-time travelers meeting the core clinical and transplant criteria!
💰 PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE
- Weekly Gross: $2,498.00
- Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,526.00
- Hourly W2 Rate: $27.00/hr
- Overtime Rate: $40.50/hr
📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS
- Schedule: Day shifts, 3x12-Hours (07:00 AM - 17:30 PM). Block scheduling is not available for this assignment.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
- On-Call Requirements: Active on-call rotation is required, structured as 1 weeknight per week (Monday–Thursday), 1 out of every 6–8 weekends, and holidays as operationally needed.
- EMR Charting System: Epic. Hands-on experience within the past 12 months is a non-negotiable hard stop.
- Care Setting: Academic Medical Center / Level I Trauma Center / Dedicated Pediatric OR & Ambulatory OR.
- Clinical Scope & Required Competencies: Comprehensive pediatric intraoperative care across multiple specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, craniofacial/plastics, urology, ENT, neurology, and surgical trauma (burns, gunshot wounds, MVAs). Prior pediatric kidney transplant experience is strictly required.
- Surgical Interventions & Equipment: Proficient handling of electrosurgical units, endoscopic/laparoscopic equipment, fiber optic light sources, specimen management, universal protocol execution, and assist with anesthesia induction.
🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty. Must have strong, proven pediatric OR, ambulatory OR, peds trauma, and kidney transplant experience to pass vetting. Must have worked in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or similar-sized facility.
- Licensure: Valid Wisconsin State Nursing License or a valid Multi-State Compact RN License must be active at the time of profile submission.
- Certifications Required: Active AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory (AHA cards only). PALS certification is highly preferred.
- Vaccine Guidelines: Facility mandates full compliance with standard Influenza vaccination rules (approved medical or religious exemptions are accepted). COVID-19 vaccine is not required.
