Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) – Cardiac/Thoracic | Travel Contract

Position Highlights

• Shift: Days, 3×12 hours (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Contract accepts first-time travelers
• Local candidates accepted (same rate)

Important Hiring Requirement

• Privileging process is required before start
• Estimated timeline: Approximately 120 days (about 3 months)
• Partner agency placements require a $125 pre-application privileging fee

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent CSFA experience
• Cardiac, Vascular, Endovascular, and Thoracic surgery experience is REQUIRED

Required Credentials

• CSFA certification
• NBSTSA or NCCSA certification

Call Requirements

• 1 weekday call per week
• 1 weekend call approximately every 4 weeks
• Subject to departmental needs

Floating

• May float within scope of practice and to the Main OR as needed

Hiring Process

• Clinical review to determine candidate fit
• Qualified candidates are then submitted to the hiring manager for final approval

Scheduling & Compliance

• No holiday RTO accepted
• Full compliance required before start date
• Missing compliance deadlines may delay the start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation

Ideal Candidate

Experienced CSFA with strong cardiac and thoracic surgical experience who is comfortable taking call, flexible with floating, and able to complete the extended privileging process prior to assignment start.
