Job Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Charge Nurse experience is preferred, or candidates must be willing to train as Charge Nurse.
Licensure & Certifications
- Alaska RN License must be in hand for Auto Offer.
- Pending Alaska RN licenses may be submitted, but the license must be in hand before an Auto Offer can be extended.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required.
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required.
Schedule
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: 3x12 Nights
- On-call: Not required.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
Floating
- Must be willing to float to like units within scope of practice if needed.
Scheduling
- Block scheduling is not available.
Additional Requirements
- Local candidates are not accepted. Candidates must have a permanent residence at least 50 miles from the facility.
- All Requested Time Off (RTO) must be included with the submission. Time off will be approved on an individual basis upon offer.
- Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours every 2 weeks.
- Travelers may be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week pay period.
Unit Information
- OB Triage/Testing: 5–10 patients.
- Labor & Delivery/Antepartum: 7–14 patients.
- High-risk Labor & Delivery unit featuring:
- 10 OB Triage rooms.
- 10 Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) rooms.
- 3 Operating Room suites.
- 4 PACU rooms.
- Average of 7 deliveries per day, with volumes increasing to up to 14 patients during inductions and high-risk antepartum care.
- OB Triage manages an average of 4–5 third-trimester testing patients daily, in addition to a high volume of obstetric triage patients.
