Position Summary
The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, coordinates, and delivers skilled nursing care to patients in the Primary Care Clinic while adhering to professional nursing standards and evidence-based practices.
The RN provides care across all age groups and demonstrates proficiency in:
- Pediatric care
- Adult and family medicine
- Women's health
- Gerontological care
- Health maintenance
- Injury prevention
- Immunizations
- Wellness visits
- Chronic disease management
Essential Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Utilize the nursing process to develop, implement, and revise individualized patient care plans.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, emotional, social, and safety evaluations.
- Assess patients for:
- Tobacco use
- Depression
- Alcohol and substance use
- Cancer screening needs
- Vaccination requirements
- Perform patient tests and administer medications as prescribed.
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
- Initiate IV catheterization and administer IV medications.
- Monitor patient progress and document care accurately and thoroughly.
Patient Education
- Empower patients to take an active role in their health and wellness.
- Provide education regarding treatments, medications, preventive care, and self-management strategies.
- Help patients and families understand diagnoses and achieve healthcare goals.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a clinical resource for LPNs and CMAs.
- Act as charge nurse when needed.
- Work collaboratively with providers and healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Support a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Required Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Required Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
Required Licensure & Certifications
- Current Alaska Registered Nurse License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- ACLS certification within one year of hire
