Unit Information: Speech Language Pathologist

Location: The Woman’s Hospital of Texas

Address: 7600 Fannin Street, Houston, Texas, 77054


General Information

Tell us about the unit(s):

· Number of Beds - 381

· Number of Staff – 2

· Type of staff:

o Day Shift – 1 FTE Speech Therapist, 1 PRN Speech Therapist (one day a week)

· Patient Ratios – caseload dependent

· EMR – Meditech Magic/Meditech Expanse


Must have: 

· Neonatal Experience

· Modified Barium Swallow Study

 

Preferred or nice to have: 

· Pediatric Experience

· Adult Experience

 

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):

· Evaluates speech/language and swallowing abilities of patients who have impairments functional limitation, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from premature birth, birth injuries, injury, disease, or other causes and synthesizes the data to establish a plan of care through evidence-based practice interventions and goals appropriate to patient’s age and development

· Interacts and collaborates with a variety of professionals to implement and assess the intervention program

· Completes other duties as assigned

· The selected individual is expected to exhibit high-functioning capabilities, strong self‑motivation, and a proactive, go‑getter approach to all assigned responsibilities. The contractor must consistently demonstrate initiative, independence, timely and quality care for the patient.

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

· Current Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA

· Current Texas State License in Speech-Language Pathology
