Description
Registered Nurse - ER (Travel/Contract)
Location: Fremont, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
- Schedule: Friday & Saturday plus one additional weeknight
- Patient Age Group: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: 1:4 standard; 1:3 experience required
- Average Daily Census: 56 patients, 13 beds/rooms
- Floating Requirement: May be asked to float to a nearby community hospital Emergency Department as needed
- Patient Diagnoses: CVA, COPD, MI, Trauma, CHF, Abdominal Pain, Mental Health, Chest Pain, Dental Pain, Dehydration, Orthopedic Injuries, standard ED complaints
- Special Unit Details: Primary Stroke Center
- Special Equipment: Ultrasound IV, bedside cardiac monitors with EKG, IV pumps, EMR interoperability expected
- Required Skills:
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care/management
- Phlebotomy and IV starts
- Continuous IV sedation and vasopressors
- Procedural sedation administration
- Care for CVA, neuro trauma, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma
- Pediatric head injury, near drowning, spinal cord injury
- CPAP/BiPAP use
- ABG interpretation
- Ventilator management
- Gunshot wounds
- Isolation precautions and triage
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in Emergency Department with combined Adult/Pediatric experience
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers not accepted
- Preferred: Trauma Level I & II experience
- Medication System: Pyxis
- EMR: Epic required
- Dress Code: Navy scrub color
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum every other weekend; may be scheduled more frequently based on census
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience working with both adult and pediatric patient populations
- Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Skilled in blood product administration
- Competent in central line care and management
- Experience administering continuous intravenous sedation and vasopressors
- Proficient in procedural sedation administration
- Experience managing cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and neuro-trauma
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Physician statement within last 12 months (latex allergy acceptable)
- Fit Test: N95 fit test within 12 months, updated annually; onsite exceptions possible with approval
- Immunizations:
- Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted except for certain pediatric facilities)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 3 months, updated annually; chest X-ray if history of positive TB
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or approved exemption required
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or approved exemption required
- Hepatitis B: Series, positive titer, or declination accepted
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); declinations not accepted during flu season
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months; instant acceptable unless on prescription medications
Additional Notes
- No local travelers within 50 miles accepted
- Must complete a time-sensitive agency form at least 10 days prior to start (includes photo submission for badge)
- Radiation badges issued by facility if applicable (not recruiter responsibility)
- Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with strong pediatric and adult ED skills, who are comfortable floating between facilities and managing a wide range of acute patient conditions in a fast-paced environment.
