Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts or 4 weekend days every 6 weeks
- Holidays: As needed
- No on-call required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all ER RNs)
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
- EPIC system proficiency required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not mandatory
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing
- Previous Charge RN and Level 2 Trauma experience preferred but not required
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification by a third party; foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was obtained outside the U.S.
- Employment verification for the last 5 years through a third party vendor
- Two supervisory references required, with at least one from within 12 months prior to start
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
Additional Requirements
- Completion of a mandatory health history form prior to clearance
- Facility-specific photo for badge (business casual or uniform, forward-facing, no selfies or altered backgrounds)
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Completion of onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline for all documentation is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
Notes
- EPIC test requires passing with a minimum score of 80%, with up to 2 attempts allowed before clearance
- Dysrhythmia/EKG exam is pass/fail with 2 attempts allowed; remediation required after first failure
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
