Description

  • Experience required: 1.5 years PICU RN experience
  • Required Certifications: RN: BLS, PALS, NIHSS
  • Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Skills required: Physical assessment of patients, ages 0 Adult
  • Skills required: Evaluate patient symptoms and associated vital signs
  • Skills required: Administer medications as prescribed
  • Skills required: Educate patients and families on plan of care
  • Skills required: Proficient use of EPIC charting system
  • Skills required: PICU experience ability to titrate drips and care for the mechanically ventilated patient.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

  • Beds: 15 bed Pediatric Unit; 5 Bed PICU
  • Patient Ratios: RN General Pediatrics - 1:5
  • Patient Ratios: PICU: 1:1-2
  • Patient Types: Will work through both Gen Peds and PICU
  • Patient Types: Pediatrics: Patients 0-18 years of age and adult overflow (stable medical
    s/p appendectomy, s/p cholecystectomy, cellulitis, etc.).
  • Patient Types: The diagnosis of these patients varies from respiratory illness, diabetes, septicemia, cellulitis, hyperbilirubinemia, neglect/abuse, mental health, trauma, neurology, and general surgeries.
  • Patient Types: PICU: Patients 0-18 years of age requiring critical or intensive care services.
  • Patient Types: The most common disease entities you may care for in our Advanced Care Pediatrics Unit include but are not limited to:?acute and chronic respiratory insufficiency, circulatory failure, infectious diseases leading to major organ system dysfunction, endocrine and metabolic disorders, neurologic diseases, toxic ingestions/exposures, trauma, hematologic and oncologic disease
