Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Day (7:00 AM - 8:00 PM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, including pre-operative and postoperative assessments and education. Deliver competent nursing care tailored to patient needs across the surgical continuum, including orthopedic, general, urology, and robotic procedures. Participate as a scrub and circulating nurse in the operating room.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, systematic patient assessments from pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Deliver direct patient care and support the perioperative team in patient care delivery.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing processes and patient progress.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including patient identification protocols and safe transfer techniques.
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-operative care.
• Evaluate pre-admission testing orders for appropriateness based on surgery type, patient age, and health status.
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical conditions, procedures, anesthesia types, and emergency equipment.
• Uphold professionalism, confidentiality (HIPAA), and promote patient satisfaction.
• Prioritize and direct patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience in orthopedic and urology surgical procedures.
