Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Med Surg / PCU

Facility: Valley Regional Hospital

Location: Claremont, New Hampshire

Assignment Type: 13-Week Travel Contract, with potential for extension

Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-Hour Shifts)

Schedule: 36 Hours per Week

 

Job Overview

Valley Regional Hospital is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Med Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This position is ideal for an independent, adaptable nurse who is comfortable caring for Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and PCU patients in a small rural hospital setting. Candidates must be able to quickly integrate into the team and provide high-quality patient care with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients.
  • Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and accurately interpret telemetry rhythms.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and quality care standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in Med Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing.
  • Strong telemetry and cardiac monitoring experience.
  • Ability to independently manage a mixed-acuity patient assignment.
  • Experience working in a small or rural hospital is highly preferred.
  • Previous travel nursing experience is highly preferred.
  • Must have a personal vehicle for transportation during the assignment.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Active New Hampshire RN License or Compact RN License
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • Basic Dysrhythmia Test

  • Patient Ratios:
    • Med Surg/Telemetry: Approximately 5:1
    • Higher Acuity PCU: Approximately 3:1 to 4:1
  • Facility Type: 25-Bed Rural Acute care Community Hospital

Schedule & Assignment Details

  • Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
  • Holiday Requirement: As Needed
  • On-Call: None

Additional Facility Requirements

  • Candidates must be comfortable working across Med Surg, Telemetry, and PCU.
  • Travelers must live more than 50 miles from the facility.
  • Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the application. Requests after submission or after an offer will not be approved.
  • Personal scrubs of any color are permitted.
