Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Urgent Care Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The RN works collaboratively with providers and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. This role involves assessment, triage, treatment, care coordination, patient education, and support for both acute and chronic health conditions.

The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical judgment, exceptional critical thinking skills, and the ability to independently manage low to moderately complex patient concerns while contributing to a positive patient experience and a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform telephone, virtual, and in-person patient triage.
  • Conduct nurse visits and provide care under established protocols and standing orders.
  • Review and act upon diagnostic test results, including laboratory and imaging findings.
  • Manage communications from patients, providers, and external healthcare partners.
  • Initiate and monitor intravenous (IV) therapies.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens, including phlebotomy.
  • Assist with or perform clinical procedures such as:
    • ECGs
    • Wound care and dressing changes
    • Medication injections
    • Other nursing procedures as appropriate
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Support medication management activities.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assist with urgent and emergent patient care situations.
  • Coordinate care across healthcare settings, including outpatient, inpatient, home health, skilled nursing, and community resources.
  • Mentor and support less experienced clinical staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative, patient-focused environment and contribute to effective team operations. 

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct patient care nursing experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or acute inpatient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain before employment.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience documenting care within an electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
  • Specialty certification in ambulatory care, trauma, emergency, or related nursing specialty.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and cross-cultural healthcare environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist with patient transfers and mobility using proper body mechanics and safety practices.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform clinical duties throughout a shift.
