Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Norwich, Connecticut
Assignment Duration: August 10, 2026 – November 7, 2026 (12 Weeks)
Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: As needed
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in both Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing. This position is based in a dual-acuity unit that provides telemetry, PCU, and ICU-level care, including ICU overflow and treatment for a wide range of complex medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring telemetry, PCU, and ICU-level monitoring.
- Perform ongoing patient assessments and respond promptly to changes in clinical condition.
- Administer medications, treatments, and advanced nursing interventions in accordance with physician orders.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage critically ill patients requiring intensive observation.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using the Epic electronic medical record system.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, and patient safety initiatives.

- Unit Type: Combined Telemetry, PCU, and ICU
- Unit Size: 25 beds
- Patient Ratios:
- Medical/Telemetry: 1:5–6
- Progressive Care: 1:3
- Intensive Care: 1:2
- Primary Patient Population:
- Chest pain
- Stroke
- Respiratory failure
- Sepsis
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience (required).
- Recent PCU experience (required).
- Previous Epic EMR experience (required).
- Experience caring for critically ill patients in a high-acuity environment.
Required Certifications
- Active Connecticut RN License (or eligible to practice)
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Assignment Details
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
