Travel Med Surg / Tele Float Pool RN

Unit: Med Surg / Tele Float Pool
Contract: 13 Weeks

Join a flexible float pool supporting multiple Med Surg and Telemetry units while working with a collaborative clinical team.

Requirements

• Active RN License
• BLS and ACLS required
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm interpretation exam prior to working independently
• Strong Med Surg and Telemetry experience required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Copy of a valid, unexpired driver's license must be included with submission
• Must reside outside the 50-mile radius rule

Float Pool Overview

Primary float assignments include:

• 6N (36 beds)
• 7N (29 beds)

Additional float units:

• 4N (36 beds)
• 5S (36 beds)
• 6S (36 beds)
• Critical Care (20 beds)

Patient Population

• CHF
• Cardiac catheterization recovery
• Chest pain
• Pneumonia
• Chronic kidney disease
• COPD
• Orthopedic patients
• Oncology patients (chemotherapy administered by permanent staff)

Unit Details

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6
• Occasional assignment of up to 7 patients based on census
• No titration of cardiac drips required
• Philips telemetry monitoring
• Monitor tech support available, but RNs must independently interpret rhythm strips
• RT manages CPAP and BiPAP

Schedule

• 12-hour Day or Night shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation with permanent staff

Float Expectations

• Report to the Clinical Coordinator before each shift for assignment
• Travelers may float to any Med Surg/Telemetry unit within their competency
• Assigned only appropriate telemetry patients within scope of practice
• 1–2 orientation shifts with a preceptor
