Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Join a premier cardiovascular ICU caring for some of the highest-acuity cardiac patients, including ECMO, LVAD, and heart transplant recipients.

Requirements

• Active RN License
• BLS and ACLS required
• CCRN preferred
• CRRT experience required
• Recent CVICU experience required with high-acuity cardiac patients

Unit Details

• 28-bed CVICU
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:
  • 1:1 for highest-acuity patients
  • 1:2 standard assignments
• Charge Nurse and two House Supervisors available
• Intensivists and Advanced Practice Providers onsite 24/7
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7

Patient Population

• Open heart surgery
• Cardiac surgery
• Vascular surgery
• Thoracic surgery
• ECMO
• LVAD
• Heart transplant patients

Required Clinical Skills

• CRRT
• Hemodynamic monitoring
• Mechanical circulatory support
• Ventilator management
• Telemetry interpretation
• Management of critically ill cardiac patients
• Titration of vasoactive medications

Common drips include:

• Inotropes
• Vasopressors
• Sedation infusions
• Other critical care medications

Schedule

• Day, Night, or Rotating shifts (based on assignment)
• Holiday rotation required
• No call required

Weekend Requirements

Minimum scheduling includes:

• Three weekend days
• One Friday
• One Monday
• Weekender positions are exempt from the Monday requirement
• Additional weekend coverage may be required based on unit needs

Additional Information

• Travelers may float to other ICU or Stepdown units as needed
• Royal Blue scrubs
• One week of unit orientation

This assignment is ideal for experienced CVICU nurses with advanced cardiac critical care skills who are comfortable managing ECMO, LVAD, CRRT, and post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients.
