Surgical Technologist - Contract Position

Location: Atlantic, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 06:45 AM - 3:15 PM, Monday to Friday, with rotating on-call duties (30-minute response time)
Hours per Week: 40

Job Summary

As a Surgical Technologist, you will support safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care by assisting the RN and surgical team. Your role includes preparing and handling instruments and supplies, maintaining sterile fields, anticipating surgeon needs, and assisting with room turnover between cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the RN and surgical team with limited direct patient care during surgical procedures
• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment required for surgeries
• Maintain and protect a sterile field throughout procedures
• Clean, prepare, and package instruments for sterilization
• Assist with room turnover, including cleaning and preparing the environment for the next patient
• Uphold patient safety standards and maintain clinical competencies according to scope and training
• Follow AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies
• Manage time, resources, and supplies responsibly
• Collaborate effectively as a team member
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with experience within the last year
• Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Current BLS/BCLS certification

Additional Information

• Rotating on-call with a 30-minute response time is required
• Position is full-time, 40 hours per week
