Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week assignment at a short-term acute care hospital in Hobbs, NM. The OR RN will function primarily as a Circulator, providing perioperative nursing care across multiple surgical specialties while ensuring patient safety, sterile technique, and efficient operating room workflow. Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Circulating Nurse during surgical procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the operating room before, during, and after surgery.
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, and perform Universal Time-Out procedures.
• Monitor patients throughout the perioperative period and document care in Epic.
• Administer medications, blood products, and conscious sedation monitoring as needed.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention standards.
• Assist the surgical team with equipment, instrumentation, and specimen handling.
• Start peripheral IVs and perform urinary catheterization when indicated.
• Respond to emergency situations, including code response and malignant hyperthermia protocols.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and provide emergency surgical coverage.

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room experience.
• Seasoned travel nurse experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification (required)
• Experience circulating in an acute care Operating Room.
• Ability to take 1–2 weekday call shifts per week and 1–2 weekends of call per month.
• Strong knowledge of infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, wound management, cardiac monitoring, and conscious sedation monitoring.
