Location: Manchester Memorial Hospital – Manchester, CT
Unit: Inpatient Dual Diagnosis / Acute Inpatient Behavioral Health
Assignment Type: 13-Week Travel Contract, with potential for extension
Shift: Nights (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 5 x 8-Hour Shifts (40 Hours per Week)

Job Summary

Manchester Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in its Acute Inpatient Behavioral Health/Dual Diagnosis Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in caring for adult behavioral health patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.

The RN will provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care, perform patient assessments, administer medications, implement individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care.

Please note: This unit operates on 8-hour night shifts only. 12-hour shifts are not available. Local candidates are not eligible for this assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in an acute inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Perform comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Assess patients for safety concerns, suicide risk, and behavioral changes.
• Utilize therapeutic communication and crisis intervention techniques.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation using Epic.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and behavioral health protocols.
• Promote a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment for patients.

Required Qualifications

• Active Connecticut RN License (or eligibility to practice in Connecticut)
• Minimum 3 years of recent Psychiatric RN experience
• Current BLS Certification
• Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Certification (Active at the time of submission – Required)
• Experience working in Acute Inpatient Behavioral Health
• Previous experience with Epic EMR (Required as the facility transitions from Meditech)
• Excellent assessment, communication, and crisis management skills

Schedule

• Night Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Five 8-hour shifts per week
• 40 Guaranteed Hours per Week
• 12-hour shifts are not available
