WVU JW Ruby Memorial Hospital - Morgantown, WV

Unit Details - CVICU
- Total Beds: 28
- Nurse:Patient Ratio:
- Standard: 1:2
- High acuity: 1:1
- EMR System: EPIC
- Telemetry: Yes, RNs must recognize ECG changes (tele techs call with rhythm updates)
Required Qualifications & Experience
- MUST HAVE:
- CVICU experience with cardiac/thoracic patient population REQUIRED
- CRRT experience REQUIRED
- Must be able to read/recognize ECG strips and changes
- Certifications:
- BLS (required)
- ACLS (required)
- CCRN (preferred)
- License: WV RN license (willing to wait for license)
- BSN: Not required
Patient Population & Procedures
- Cardiac, Vascular, & Thoracic Surgeries
- ECMO patients
- LVAD patients
- Heart transplants
Critical Care Skills Required
- Drip Titration: Yes - all critical care drips including:
- Inotropes
- Sedation drips
- All vasoactive medications
- CRRT management
- Ventilator management (RT available 24/7)
- Advanced cardiac monitoring
Staffing Support
- Intensivist & APPs: 24/7 in-house
- Charge Nurse: 1 per shift
- House Supervisors: 2
- CNAs: 1-3 per shift
- RT: 24/7 in ICU
- Call/Standby: None
Schedule Requirements - IMPORTANT ⚠️
Minimum Weekend Requirements:
- 3 "S" days (Saturdays/Sundays) - regardless of shift
- 1 Friday
- 1 Monday (weekenders exempt from Monday requirement)
- Note: Depending on unit needs, may work more than minimum required days
Additional Requirements:
- Holidays: Work into permanent staff holiday rotation
- Floating: May float to any ICU or stepdown unit in the hospital
