• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Orientation: 1 day system onboarding + 2 orientation shifts on unit
• Trauma Level: Level 2 (Tertiary Care Center)

Unit Details - 2E SICU

• Total Beds: 16 + 2 additional procedural beds
• Nurse:Patient Ratio:
  • Standard: 1:2
  • High acuity: 1:1 (CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, MTP, OPO)
  • Med/Surg/Floor status: 1:3
• Charting System: Cerner
• Monitors: GE brand
• Scrubs: No specific color required, clean and professional

Required Qualifications & Experience

• MUST HAVE:
  • ICU experience with high-acuity surgical patients
  • Experience with tertiary care patient population
  • Ability to titrate multiple drips
  • RN must read and interpret own telemetry strips
  • Skills checklist completion required
• Certifications:
  • ACLS (AHA) - required
  • BLS (AHA) - required
  • NIHSS - required
  • TNCC - preferred
• License: Active WI or Compact RN license required at submission
• BSN: Not required
• Desired (not required):
  • CRRT experience
  • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
  • Impella experience
  • ECMO experience

Patient Population & Clinical Skills

• Surgical Patient Types:
  • Cardiovascular surgery: CABG, AVR (Aortic Valve Replacement), MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement), AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm)
  • Trauma patients (Level 2 trauma center)
  • NSTEMI/STEMI
  • Vascular surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • General surgery
  • Ortho surgery
  • ENT surgery
  • Any other surgical patients requiring ICU
• Special Patient Populations:
  • POD 1 heart patients - all nurses care for
  • Immediate post-op heart patients - 1:1 care by specifically trained nurses
  • MTP patients (Massive Transfusion Protocol)
  • OPO patients (Organ Procurement Organization)

Critical Care Skills Required

• Drip Titration: Yes - all of the following:
  • Epinephrine (Epi)
  • Norepinephrine (Norepi)
  • Propofol
  • Precedex
  • Vasopressin (Vaso)

  • Heparin
  • Insulin

• Telemetry: RNs read, interpret, and document own patient rhythms
• Post-op Management: Immediate post-op cardiac surgery care
