Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) | 

Location:  Gardner, MA
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 08/10/2026
Shift: Day | 4x10 Hours (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating rooms by ensuring surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
• Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and informed consent using Universal Protocol.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment.
• Circulate in the operating room and monitor patient safety throughout the surgical procedure.
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation as appropriate.
• Handle, label, and transport surgical specimens according to facility protocols.
• Start peripheral IVs, perform urinary catheterization, and assist with blood and blood product administration when required.
• Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Steris equipment, and Hana Table.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech Expanse and communicate patient information using SBAR.
• Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention, laser safety, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia, and latex allergy protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• Active RN License.
• Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience.
• Travel experience preferred (first-time travelers may be considered with strong OR experience).
• Experience with Meditech Expanse preferred.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, specimen handling, wound management, and perioperative patient safety.
• Experience with circulating duties in a fast-paced operating room environment.
