Description
Respiratory Therapist – Nights (4×12 or 3×12 available)
Location: Columbus, GA Start Date: 08/03/2026 Contract Length: 24 weeks
About the Assignment
This is a high‑acuity environment featuring Level II trauma, interventional stroke certification, and a Level III NICU that serves as the regional transport resource. Travelers will primarily work adult critical care but must be comfortable caring for pediatric intubated patients when needed.
Shift & Schedule
- Night Shift: 4×12‑hour (18:30–07:00)
- Option: 3×12s available — note preference at submission
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Float: Yes — within main campus + sister campus
- Call: None
- Scrubs: Slate Gray
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year RRT experience
- First‑time travelers accepted
- Trauma experience required
- Comfortable with infants → geriatrics (primarily adult RRT)
Certifications Required
- GA RRT License
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage non‑invasive ventilation, conventional ventilation, oxygen therapy
- Perform arterial lines, ABGs, capillary blood gases, and line draws
- Conduct aerosol therapy, pulmonary hygiene, and patient education
- Complete bedside pulmonary function tests (spirometry preferred)
- Assist with ventilator troubleshooting, high‑pressure alarms, and weaning
- Support trauma cases and rapid response needs

- Ventilators: Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea
RTO & Blackout Policy
- Max RTO: 7 days
- Night Shift Blackouts:
- June: Total blackout
- July 5–31
- August 1–2
- Holiday Requirements:
- If 1–2 major holidays fall in assignment → traveler works both
- If 3 holidays fall → traveler works 2
- Major holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time
- Late compliance → start pushed 2 weeks due to bi‑weekly orientation
- Orientation: 48 hours (non‑billable; varies by contract length)
- Modules completed during orientation

- COVID‑19 Vaccine: Not required

- Locals: Accepted at same rate
- Traveler must clock in/out via Kronos
