Travel Ultrasound Technologist (General/Vascular) – IU Health University Hospital | Indianapolis, IN

Position: Travel Ultrasound Technologist (RDMS-AB)
Location: IU Health University Hospital – Indianapolis, IN
Contract: Travel Assignment
Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
 

Join one of Indiana's premier academic medical centers and work alongside a highly specialized team caring for complex transplant and acute care patients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sonographer looking to expand their experience in a fast-paced, high-volume hospital environment.

Schedule & Call

  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Call Requirement:
    • 1 weekday call shift each week
    • Every 4th or 5th weekend:
      • Saturday 7:00 AM – Sunday 7:00 AM
      • Sunday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality abdominal and vascular ultrasound examinations
  • Conduct liver and kidney Doppler studies for a large transplant patient population
  • Perform venous Doppler studies of the upper and lower extremities
  • Assist with liver biopsies and thyroid/neck fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures
  • Collaborate with radiologists, transplant teams, and multidisciplinary healthcare providers
  • Ensure excellent patient care while maintaining imaging quality and safety standards

Required Qualifications

  • RDMS (AB) Certification required
  • BLS Certification required
  • Minimum 3 years of recent ultrasound experience
  • Strong proficiency in liver and kidney Doppler imaging is required due to the high-volume transplant population
  • First-time travelers are encouraged to apply

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a large academic or Level I Trauma hospital
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume inpatient environment
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills

Unit Highlights

This busy hospital-based ultrasound department performs a wide variety of advanced diagnostic and procedural imaging, including:

  • High volume of upper and lower extremity venous Doppler exams
  • Liver and kidney transplant Doppler imaging
  • Liver biopsy assistance
  • Thyroid and neck FNA procedures
  • Collaborative work with transplant, surgical, and radiology teams
