Travel Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Travel Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to provide high-quality patient care in a home health setting. Working under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist, the PTA will assist in implementing individualized treatment plans, helping patients improve mobility, strength, functional independence, and overall quality of life. This role requires flexibility to travel throughout the assigned coverage area and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out physical therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions designed to improve patient function and mobility.
- Monitor patient progress and responses to treatment, reporting findings and concerns to the Physical Therapist.
- Assist with patient assessments and ongoing documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- Educate patients and caregivers on prescribed exercises, safety techniques, and home programs.
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist and other members of the healthcare team.
- Travel throughout the assigned service area to provide patient care in home settings.
- Adhere to all clinical, ethical, and professional standards of practice.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license in the applicable state.
- Previous home health experience.
- Experience using Homecare Homebase (HCHB) software.
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with the supervising Physical Therapist.
Preferred
- Prior experience utilizing Homecare Homebase (HCHB).
- Experience managing a diverse home health patient population.
- Flexibility to support occasional weekend or on-call needs, as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of physical therapy principles, techniques, and best practices.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with patients and caregivers.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and schedules.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
Work Environment
- Primarily home health and community-based patient care settings.
- Frequent local travel throughout the assigned coverage area.
- Professional appearance required while providing patient care.
