Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our healthcare team on a contract assignment. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and other prescribed respiratory treatments.
- Perform respiratory assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and airway management equipment.
- Assist with emergency airway procedures, intubation support, and rapid response situations.
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpret results.
- Conduct pulmonary function testing and bedside respiratory diagnostics as required.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, medications, and home respiratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Active state Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (as applicable).
- Current BLS (AHA) certification.
- Current ACLS (AHA) certification.
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent acute care or hospital respiratory therapy experience preferred.
- Experience with adult critical care and mechanical ventilation preferred.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ICU, Emergency Department, NICU, or PICU settings.
- Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, and advanced airway procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
