Position: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Neptune, NJ
Shift: Nights – 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
Weekends: Every Other Weekend Required
Holidays: Required as Needed
On-Call: None
Float Requirement: None
Scrub Color: Navy
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
 

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides high-quality emergency nursing care to patients of all ages presenting with urgent and critical medical conditions. ED RNs are responsible for rapid assessment, prioritization, stabilization, and treatment of patients experiencing trauma, medical emergencies, and behavioral health concerns. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong emergency medicine knowledge, critical thinking skills, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform rapid and comprehensive assessments of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Prioritize patient care using triage principles based on acuity and medical necessity.
• Provide emergency nursing interventions for trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and medical emergencies.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and emergency treatments according to physician orders.
• Monitor patient conditions and recognize changes requiring immediate intervention.
• Assist physicians with procedures, resuscitation efforts, and emergency interventions.
• Manage patients with critical illnesses including stroke, sepsis, cardiac events, and traumatic injuries.
• Provide care to patients with both physical and mental health conditions.
• Perform accurate and timely documentation according to nursing standards.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, ancillary departments, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain patient safety, infection prevention standards, and emergency department protocols.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a high-pressure environment.

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months of Emergency Department RN experience required.
• Must have worked in an ED setting within the past 6 months.
• Strong emergency medicine knowledge and clinical judgment required.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Education Requirements

Required:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)

• Telemetry Certification
